Roach, Alleyne promoted to tourism agency's senior team
Barbados' tourism agency, Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. has named Petra Roach to the post of Head, Global Markets, in which role she will be strategically leading the further development of the Barbados brand within each market. At the same time Marsha Alleyne has been named Chief Product Development Officer, in which role she will be responsible for the sustainability, continuous development and promotion of Barbados’ tourism products and services. The announcements were made in the BTMI’s October newsletter.
Ms. Roach is a longstanding employee with the organization, having served as vice-president of the BTMI’s UK office for 12 years, and, for the past four years, as the director for the US. During her tenure in the US, Barbados has enjoyed record-breaking growth in its arrivals from that market. Petra’s vivacious personality and passion for Barbados has won her many awards including Virtuoso’s Ambassador of the Year and Sandals Resorts’ Chairman’s Award of Excellence, both in 2018.
Ms. Alleyne was most recently Guest Experiences Manager at the BTMI, having joined the company five years ago. She has spearheaded the upgrade of the seaport and airport’s guest information offices; developed the ‘I am Tourism’ national education and awareness campaign; and conceptualized and developed the new Festive Fridays Bridgetown Night Market.
